Boom in new start-ups

New figures show a boom in the number of new start-up companies in Brighton and Hove plus neighbouring towns and villages, with more than 8,300 launched in the past year.

It puts the “greater Brighton” area 4th in the UK for the total number of new companies being launched – behind London, Manchester and Birmingham but beating many other large cities.

The figures for the “greater Brighton” area cover the towns and villages from Littlehampton and Arundel to Eastbourne, and up through Steyning, Hassocks and Lewes.

Glasgow, Bristol, Sheffield, Nottingham, Warrington and Edinburgh were also in the top 10. Startup Britain’s infographic shows details of other areas too.
